An 8-year-old girl who suffers from a serious digestive disorder and cannot eat wheat has had her first Holy Communion declared invalid because the wafer contained no wheat, violating Roman Catholic doctrine.

It's the slippery slope thing. First no-wheat wafers then, god forbid, gay marriage!!!

I think the catholic church is right on this one, to hell with the parishioners health, unreasoning adherence to tradition is the only thing that separates us from animals! <font size="1">(well in trav's case a bucket of cold water helps.)</font>

Look, I'm not a religiuos person. I don't go to church and am not gonna get into some sort of arguument about some doctrine that is most likely about 1000 years out of date but...

I thought these churchy types were supposed to be about understanding, What is the big deal. It's still a cracker. Why not just bless hers as well and get on with it.
Doesnt really seem like it needs to be a major production.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">This little girl's aversion toward wheat products and the Communion host can only mean she is a product of the devil, and is going to hell as a result.

On my last trip to the doc, he suggested I be tested for celiac. I will let you know if I'm going to hell after I get the results.

It seems the only responsible solution for the Catholic Church is to force feed this little girl wheat thins.
